DIY and household waste dumped by city road
BBCThe dumping of DIY and household waste on a roadside on the outskirts of Norwich is being investigated.
It was spotted in Bowthorpe, where Saxoncote Avenue meets Clover Hill Road, on Wednesday.
Last month, government figures revealed 5,297 fly-tipping incidents in Norwich in 2022-23, compared to 4,805 the previous year.
The city council said it was "committed to tackling environmental crime".
The waste included about 10 large bags of rubbish, broken floorboards and plasterboard.
The council-owned land, which is surrounded by meadow, has seen a number of fly-tipping incidents in the past few years.
Mike Sands, a Labour city and county councillor for Bowthorpe, said he reported the incident to the council.
"People need to remember that these incidents add to our council tax bills due to the cost of clearing it up," he said.
A spokesperson for the city council said: "A crew has been to the site to begin clearance and items have been retrieved in order to investigate the incident."
