A second arrest has been made by officers investigating three armed robberies at Leicester supermarkets.

Leicestershire Police had previously linked three raids at three stores on three consecutive days in and around the city.

Tesco in Blaby Road, Wigston, was targeted at about 23:55 BST on Thursday 10 October, followed by Tesco in Ethel Road, Evington, at about 21:40 on the Friday, and Sainsbury’s, near Fosse Park in Enderby at 09:25 on the Saturday.

On Thursday, the force said a 28-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remained in police custody.

A 40-year-old man, of Leicester, was previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and released on police bail.

No serious injuries were reported in the three raids, said police.

Det Insp Michael Chandler said while a fresh arrest had been made, investigations continued.
