Armed officers called after gunshots fired
Armed police were called out after reports of gunshots being fired in a Sheffield street.
Firearms officers, supported by the National Police Air Service, were deployed to Oxford Street, in the Netherthorpe area of the city, at about 22:15 GMT on Tuesday.
South Yorkshire Police said they found evidence consistent with a weapon being fired but nobody had been reported injured.
Det Insp Claire Moss said: "When a firearm is discharged, it rightly causes great concern for the community. We will not tolerate gun crime here in South Yorkshire.
"Fortunately, no-one was harmed in the incident last night, but this is not always the case, which is why it is so important that we respond robustly to all reports of firearm discharges.
