Roads and paths set for repair work named

A list of roads and paths that are set to be resurfaced and maintained this year, at a cost of more than £9m, has been published by City of Wolverhampton Council.
The local authority, which maintains 460 miles of road, said a £9.2m budget for the 2025-26 highways capital programme was bolstered by £500,000 more to help repair and prevent potholes.
From 30 June, local authorities must publish how much is spent on roads, the condition of them and how many potholes are fixed.
The government has promised £500m extra for highway maintenance over the coming year, but if councils do not set out how they are using the money, a quarter of it could be withheld.
Wolverhampton council said it carried out thousands of pothole repairs each year, "which have to be prioritised on the risk they present to highway users and the potential for further deterioration".
Qaiser Azeem, the cabinet member for Transport and Green City, said the council also carried out its own inspections to see where "improvements can make the most difference".
The local authority also maintains more than 800 miles of paths and the highways capital programme includes paying for traffic management work and upgrades to car parks and street lighting.
Roads to be resurfaced are:
- Cannock Road from Stafford Street to Springfield Road
- Wood End Road - roundabout to Amos Lane
- A4039 Millfields Road
- Whitgreave Avenue - roundabout at Leacroft Avenue
- Ruskin Avenue - entire length
- Hall Lane from Hurst Road to Robert Wynd
A full list can be found on the council's website.
