Man arrested after two hurt in bike crash

A man has been arrested after two women were seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcycle in North Yorkshire.

The 19-year-old was arrested at the scene of the incident on Knaresborough Road in Harrogate after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with two female pedestrians at about 11:40 BST on Saturday.

The two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the road was closed until 17:00 BST while investigations were carried out, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The rider of the Yamaha motorcycle was later released under investigation, a force spokesperson said.

North Yorkshire Police appealed for anyone with information about what happened, or any witnesses or motorists with relevant dashcam footage, to get in touch.
