Wrexham striker's Deadpool suit goes on display

The costume worn by Wrexham AFC striker Paul Mullin in a cameo appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine has gone on display at the club's stadium.

Mullin starred as Welshpool – a Welsh version of Ryan Reynolds’ character Deadpool - in the superhero film also starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

The player was joined by Wrexham's co-owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to unveil the costume at the club's cafe ahead of the opening game of the season.

The Welshpool suit is being kept inside a glass box and fans will be allowed to have their photograph taken with it.

Deadpool & Wolverine was released in the UK on 25 July.

Welshpool appeared during a sequence which saw hordes of Deadpool variants together on screen.

The costume is adorned with prominent Welsh flags across the chest and shoulders.

“You may have noticed one member of the Deadpool Corps was far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL,” Reynolds said on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the film was released in July.

The football club later updated its player profile for Mullin to feature him in his Welshpool costume.

Mullin was not the only Wrexham footballer to appear in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Fellow striker Ollie Palmer also made a cameo as a bartender in the background of one scene.

Reynolds and fellow Hollywood actor McElhenney bought Wrexham AFC in 2020 and have since seen the team promoted to League One.
