Police seize loose dog after owner injured in fall

A dog that escaped from a house in Staffordshire has been seized by police.

Officers said they were called shortly after 12:00 BST on Wednesday to a street near Nightingale Walk, Burntwood, following reports that a dog was loose.

They added that the owner of the dog suffered a minor injury in a fall while trying to bring the dog back under control.

Nobody else was hurt in the incident, police said.

Chase Terrace Academy posted on Facebook to say a number of roads had been closed due to the incident.

"We have informed all pupils and advised them to exercise caution when walking home," the school said.

They said Sister Dora Avenue, Nightingale Walk, Clegg Road and Freer Drive were all closed earlier.

Staffordshire Police said the dog was believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, and it had been seized for a safety assessment.

The force said that by the time officers arrived on the scene, the dog had been put in a house and was secured.

Inquiries are ongoing.
