Eight-month gas works set to start
Eight months of work to replace a gas main along a road is set to start in mid-November.
Traffic restrictions will be in place for the entire duration of the seven-phase works on Woolsbridge Road in Ashley Heath, Dorset.
Gas company SGN said part of the road would be completely closed for phase one from Monday 18 November to Friday 20 December.
The company said the work involved replacing the old metal gas pipes with new plastic ones to "ensure we can continue to provide a safe and efficient gas supply".
Sections of the road will also be closed to southbound traffic for the following six phases, lasting until Friday 11 July 2025.
SGN apologised for the inconvenience caused by the work.
The closures
The seven phases will see different parts of the road closed.
- Phase one: The road will be closed both ways between the junction of the A31 and the junction with Laurel Lane
- Phase two: Closed to southbound traffic from the junction of Horton Road to south of Ashley Drive West
- Phase three: Closed to southbound traffic from the junction of Ashley Drive West to Hill Way
- Phase four: Closed to southbound traffic from the junction of Hill Way to Gainsborough Road
- Phase five: Closed to southbound traffic from the Junction of Gainsborough Road to Sandy Lane
- Phase six: Closed to southbound traffic from the junction of Sandy Lane to Pine Drive
- Phase seven: Closed to southbound traffic from the junction of Pine Drive to Laurel Lane
SGN said vehicle access to the properties in the works area would be maintained, and bin collections would not be affected.
However, bus services will be impacted.
People have been advised to check the details with bus companies.
