Images show man wanted over screwdriver stabbing
Images of a man wanted in connection with an assault in east London that left the victim with life-changing injuries have been released by police.
Tom Savage, 36, was stabbed 19 times with a screwdriver in Mirabelle Gardens, Stratford, on 19 August while walking his dog, and has since struggled to walk and see.
CCTV images show the last known sighting of the suspect getting off an Elizabeth line train at Whitechapel station.
“We continue to investigate this horrific assault and are urgently appealing to the public to help," said Det Sgt Simon Wheeler, from the Metropolitan Police.
“We are in regular contact with the victim and are examining every avenue of opportunity to find the person responsible and bring him to justice."
Mr Savage lost all sense of taste and smell and lost feeling in parts of his body due to the unprovoked attack.
He said he tried to escape before feeling "a smack in the back of my head and from that point on I don’t remember feeling any pain from the whole thing - I felt numb".
The last memory Mr Savage had was of paramedics cutting his jeans off in an ambulance before later waking up in a hospital trauma unit.
He is now continuing his recovery at home.
Doctors have told Mr Savage it could take up to two years to recover from his injuries.
