Staff from the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust have been celebrated for their "incredible" work at an internal awards ceremony.

Championing commitment, kindness and team work the staff awards recognised individuals who had made a significant difference to their teams and patients in their day-to-day work, according to the Trust.

Staff were nominated by colleagues and patients for the event, which took place at the Harbour Hotel, Guildford, on 22 November.

Joss Bigmore, chair of the Trust, said: “We’re such a busy organisation, we don’t get enough time to reflect on the incredible feats that are achieved every day by our staff, but this event enables us to do that.”

'Compassion and expertise'

Among the awards were two Patients' Choice awards which were nominated by families and carers who felt particularly supported by certain staff.

Dr Maja Kaladjiska, who works in emergency services, won the individual Patients' Choice award for her compassion, professionalism and medical expertise specifically when treating a patient with autism.

The Trust's specialist head, neck and surgical ward, Clandon Ward, won the Patients' Choice team award.

Louise Stead, chief executive of the Trust, said when reading through the nominations she "felt incredibly proud of the people and teams we have at Royal Surrey".
