Man jailed after cocaine worth £3.8m seized

A man has been jailed after Class A drugs with a street value of almost £4m was seized from his car and home.

Conrad Byrd, 50, was arrested after being stopped by traffic officers in Kenilworth Road, Balsall Common, on 14 March.

It led to the discovery of more than 25kg (55lbs) of cocaine, with a street value of approximately £3.8m, in his car and home, West Midlands Police said.

He admitted couriering Class A drugs between the West Midlands and London over a three-month period. At Birmingham Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply the Class A drugs.

Further searches were carried out at Byrd's home in Sidcup, Bexley, after drugs were found in his car

Byrd was jailed for 12 years, nine months at the court on 13 June.

As a result of the drugs being found in his car, further searches were carried out at his home address in Sidcup, Bexley, where further drugs were found along with cash.

He admitted making multiple trips to courier drugs for an organised crime group, officers said.
