The parking zone is one of several in the island where there is currently no limit on the time a motorcycle can be parked, according to the government

A time limit on motorcycle parking will be introduced at a Guernsey car park in an effort to tackle abandoned bikes, the government has said.

The States' Traffic and Highways department believes a number of motorcycles have been left in the Odeon car park, but without a time limit on bike parking, the police have no grounds to remove them.

It said it would introduce a 23-hour limit for motorbikes in the car park in the new year, after which police would be able to identify and remove bikes.

Traffic and Highways said the change would ensure there are enough spaces available for people to use the car park to commute to work, school or town.

"We don't want anyone who uses these spaces regularly to get caught out by this change, so we'll be putting up some temporary signs to warn people about this upcoming change for a couple of weeks," the department said.
