Man sought as woman dies in six-vehicle M40 crash

Five cars and a van were involved in a crash on the M40 which killed a woman in her 50s, police said.

The woman was a passenger in one of the cars involved in the collision on the northbound carriageway between Junction 11 for Banbury and Junction 12 for Gaydon on Saturday night.

Warwickshire Police said the driver of the van - a Peugeot Boxer - is believed to have left the area on foot.

Officers want to speak to the man, named as 23-year-old Akashdeep Singh, who they said may have information on what happened.

They said investigations were continuing, with officers keen to locate Mr Singh, who also goes by the name of Akash, and has connections to the West Midlands, particularly the Oldbury area.

A spokeswoman for Warwickshire Police said: "If members of the public have information to help us find him or can share details about the collision, please get in touch."

Police have not yet named the woman who died but said her next-of-kin had been informed and specially-trained officers were supporting the family.

Anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision, which happened shortly before 19:15 BST, is urged to contact the police.
