Merseyrail line closes for engineering works
Merseyrail passengers are facing disruption as a line has closed for planned engineering works.
Trains will not run between Formby and Southport until 14 October, while Network Rail carry out track renewal works including upgrading signalling systems.
A rail replacement bus service is in operation between Southport and Formby, calling at all stations and trains will be running between Formby and Liverpool Central.
Passengers are advised to expect longer journey times and to check information on the Merseyrail website before they travel.
A normal timetable will be in operation from the start of service on 15 October, Merseyrail said.
The works come just weeks after the line was closed for Network Rail to construct a new concrete crossing over the River Alt.
