A police station on the Isle of Wight is set to reopen 10 years after it was closed.

Ryde Police Station shut its doors to the public in 2014 as part of public sector austerity cuts.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has announced it will reopen three days a week.

The station, which has a new front counter, will be officially opened on 25 October from 11:00 BST.

The police base on Station Street will open Tuesdays and Thursdays 09:30 - 15:00 and Saturdays from 09:00 - 14:30.

Elsewhere on the Isle of Wight, Cowes Police Station on the Isle of Wight was opened in January 2024.

The station on the High Street does not have a permanent front counter but is open to the public for drop-ins and pre-arranged appointments.

Newport Central Police Station remains open to the public every day.
