Plans to build four warehouses in South Yorkshire could create more than 3,000 jobs.

Equites Newlands Ltd wants to build logistics and distribution buildings along with office space on land south of Dearne Valley Parkway near Goldthorpe.

About 3,280 full-time jobs would be created in total, the applicants said, with Barnsley Council's planning board expected to make a decision on Tuesday.

Local objections raised during a consultation included the impact on local habitats, increased traffic and its proximity to an RSPB site.

The proposed development would span about 85 hectares of land, council documents said.

Most of the earmarked land was allocated in the Barnsley Local Plan for employment purposes, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Other concerns included the development's scale, loss of green belt land and potential health impacts.

Proposed off-site improvements include bus stop upgrades and the creation of new pedestrian and cycling routes to encourage sustainable travel.

The closest homes to the development would be offered funds towards "additional window glazing" to mitigate noise concerns, documents said.
