Worker seriously injured after falling through trench

Police are investigating after a construction worker fell through the trench

A construction worker has been seriously injured after he fell through a trench.

The 36-year-old man was working at an address in Amethyst Lane in Reading at about 09:20 GMT on Wednesday and taken to hospital for further treatment.

Thames Valley Police said his condition was "understood to be serious but stable".

Another person sustained minor injuries, a force spokesperson said.

"We are working with emergency service partners and the Health and Safety Executive," they added.

"Officers will be remaining on scene whilst an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is completed."
