Agony and ecstasy as fans try for Coldplay tickets
Fans hoping to get pre-sale tickets for Coldplay's upcoming concerts at Craven Park in Hull and London's Wembley Stadium have had mixed fortunes.
Those who pre-ordered Coldplay's latest album were given access to tickets from 09:00 BST, with limited numbers available.
Sarah Cash, who managed to get hold of a ticket, said: "I still can't quite believe I'm going to see Coldplay in my home city of Hull. What a great coup for the city."
People with a HU, YO, DN or LN postcode were able to enter a local pre-sale at 18:00 - with tickets only available for the Craven Park dates.
Mrs Cash added: "It's great to hear so many tickets will go to local people though and we are keeping our fingers crossed for them."
The band will play two nights at Craven Park Stadium on 18 and 19 August 2025 as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025.
This will be one of only two locations in the UK the band will play, alongside 10 dates at Wembley, in August and September.
Hibaldstow resident Gez Reilly, 47, also managed to secure four tickets, for himself, his wife and two teenage daughters.
Mr Reilly, a hotelier, had a back-up plan to enjoy the band's music by booking a tribute act at his hotel - but luckily will be seeing the real thing too.
He was number 2,500 in the queue at 09:00 - and had secured and paid for tickets by 09.15.
Mr Reilly said "Coldplay is always playing in our house," and he had "two very excited teenage girls in the house and a happy wife" after getting the tickets for the Tuesday night.
He said: "We're looking forward to an amazing family day out, in Hull of all places!
"We thought we would have to do Wembley and get trains and hotel etc, but it's great that one of the biggest bands in world are playing in an area which doesn’t [usually] get them."
He said he had been "impressed by how Coldplay do things", by also opening a pre-sale for local fans.
"We have friends in the right postcodes. I hope they get the opportunity to see them too - in what is going to be a really memorable event for Hull."
Disappointment for fans
The ticket allocations for the pre-sale and the postcode sale all sold out in around 20 minutes, according to fans discussing the gigs on social media.
One reported a message on the Ticketmaster website flashing up at 09:22, stating: "UPDATE: There are currently no available tickets in this pre-sale."
General tickets for both the Hull and London dates will go on sale at 09:00 on Friday, so fans who missed out earlier will get another chance.
