Murder probe begins after Tube stabbing victim dies

A man who was stabbed at a north London Underground station a week ago has died in hospital, sparking a murder investigation.

Officers were called to Seven Sisters station in Haringey at about 08:45 BST on Tuesday 23 July following reports of a serious assault on a man in his 30s.

A 20-year-old man was charged on Sunday with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

"We are in touch with the Crown Prosecution Service following today's (Tuesday's) sad update," BTP said in a statement.

Det Supt Sam Blackburn said: “Sadly today we can confirm the victim has died in hospital following the attack and we have launched a murder investigation.

"My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they navigate their loss. We continue to provide support through specialist officers."

Det Supt Blackburn said the force was continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
