New 420-pupil school plan for housing development
A new primary school for 420 pupils has been proposed on the outskirts of Northampton.
West Northamptonshire Council has submitted plans for Overstone Leys Primary School at the development, off the A43.
The school has a "sustainable" design with solar panels, a green roof, bike stores and EV chargers.
A target date for the application to be considered by the authority is February 2024.
Overstone Leys is a 2,000-home urban extension near Moulton, on the northern edge of Northampton.
The school will be adjacent to Pytchley Gate, a Grade II listed landmark from the late 16th Century.
It will have about 40 staff and the plans include special educational needs and medical rooms and outdoor play facilities.
The surrounding area is proposed to include new housing, a care home and a supermarket for the estate.
Residents and Overstone Parish Council have previously complained there were not enough green spaces in the area.
