Trees fall and bridges close in stormy weather

Trees have been blown down in high winds and bridges closed due to flooding in Worcestershire.

Meanwhile, one flood warning was in place on Sunday in the West Midlands with more than 20 flood alerts across the region.

Jubilee Bridge, Fladbury, and Eckington Bridge were closed on Sunday due to flooding, Worcestershire County Council said.

Two drivers were also rescued from flood-water on Saturday as levels rose after heavy rain.

In Shropshire, the fire service said a woman and a dog were rescued from a car after it was driven into flood-water in Maesbury Marsh, near Oswestry.

A man had to be led to safety by firefighters from his vehicle on Newland Lane, Droitwich, the county's brigade said.

The flood warning, for the River Dove, near Coton-in-the-Clay, was issued due to high water levels and more rain being forecast on Sunday, the Environment Agency said.

Police in Staffordshire said they had several reports of fallen trees across the county on Saturday and urged drivers to drive carefully this weekend.

There were also fallen trees on the A444 in Nuneaton on Saturday, as well as in Worcestershire on Sunday on Pulley Lane, near Droitwich, and the A443 near Great Witley.
