Family pay tribute to motorcyclist killed in crash

The family of a motorcyclist killed in a crash with a van in West Sussex has described him as a “selfless and caring individual”.
Martin Lyons, from Billingshurst, was riding on the A29 Stane Street in Slinfold, near Horsham, at 07:07 BST on Tuesday when the crash happened.
The 66-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, Sussex Police said.
A statement from his family said becoming a grandfather became “the greatest pride in his life”.
He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Linda, their children Calvin and Katherine and his grandchildren Austin and Warren.
“Martin was a very humble man who was content with his life, and he was looking forward to retirement – a new chapter with his wife,” the statement said.
“He was a big part of the Horsham community where he grew up, his friends describe him as their memory bank and book writer.
“He loved being outdoors and would often spend his mornings walking in the woods and being amongst nature, sharing this with his grandchildren.”
Sussex PoliceMr Lyons had been riding motorcycles for 50 years, his family added.
Despite the efforts of paramedics who attempted CPR, Mr Lyons was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, a grey Volkswagen Caddy, was uninjured, police said.
Officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the crash.
