Face mask rules lifted after Covid spike eases

A requirement to wear face masks in Manx Care settings has been lifted after a spike in numbers of Covid patients in hospital eased.

The need to wear masks was reintroduced at the island’s medical settings on 27 June after rise in the admission of people with the virus.

The health care provider face coverings would still be worn where clinically necessary and in Manx Care settings and by those in contact with someone with Covid.

However, the “precautionary” measure had been “removed with immediate effect” in all other instances.

A spokesman for Manx Care said: “Whilst masks are no longer universally required in Manx Care’s patient-facing settings, colleagues and visitors are reminded that they should do whatever makes them feel safe.

“Those visiting our settings are welcome to wear face masks supplied by Manx Care should they wish to do so on a voluntary basis.”
