Girls arrested over train conductor assault
Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a train conductor in West Yorkshire.
British Transport Police said officers were called to Burley in Wharfedale Station at 20:33 BST on Monday, following reports the staff member had been attacked after "intervening in an altercation".
The two girls, aged 14 and 16, were subsequently arrested and have been bailed while enquiries continue.
The train service, which was travelling to Ilkley from Leeds, was terminated at Burley in Wharfedale after the incident.
Train operator Northern said it was providing support to the conductor involved.
In a statement, the company added: "Northern do not tolerate threatening, abusive or violent behaviour towards our staff and we work closely with British Transport Police to help them identify and prosecute offenders."
