A murder inquiry is under way following the death of a man in Ilkeston.

Derbyshire Police said Luke Elliott-Shircore was found dead at his home in the town on Wednesday.

The force said it was understood he had been assaulted in the car park of the town's Aldi supermarket, in Manor Road, at about 16:15 BST on Sunday 25 May.

Detectives have appealed for information about what happened to him and video footage taken in the area at the time.

Det Ch Insp Jen Lovatt said: "Luke's family are aware that we have launched a murder investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, and they are being supported by specialist officers.

"We believe that someone in the local community will have information about the circumstances which led to Luke's death and are keen to hear from anyone who was in Aldi car park between 16:00 and 17:00 on 25 May."
