Sinfield challenge: Everything you need to know
A rugby league legend and charity fundraiser will begin the next leg of his latest challenge at the headquarters of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association in Northampton.
Kevin Sinfield is running 50km (31 miles) a day for seven days to raise money for six MND charities, with the penultimate day starting at Francis Crick House in Moulton Park - and ending in Leicester.
On Friday, Sinfield will run half of the route in the black, green and gold of English champions Northampton Saints, before switching to the green, red and white of East Midlands rivals, Leicester Tigers.
The ex-Leeds Rhinos player is running in memory of friend and team-mate Rob Burrow, who died of MND in June.
Sinfield's seven in seven challenge, in recognition of Burrow's shirt number, has already raised more than £430,000 of a £777,777 target.
Called Running Home for Christmas, his team is visiting seven regions of the United Kingdom, with the aim each day to run distances in excess of 50 km, broken down into seven kilometre blocks.
In a message on X, Dr Brian Dickie, director of research at MND Association, said the money raised by Sinfield's efforts was "pivotal" in developing potential new treatments for the disease.
He said: "Thanks to Kevin and his team's incredible efforts and your amazing support, the pace of research is speeding up and giving hope to the whole MND community.
"Thank you, and keep going, Kev!"

Why is Sinfield taking on the challenge?
Sinfield and Burrow were teammates on the pitch and friends off it.
Burrow, who was married with three children, retired from playing in 2017 after winning eight Super League Grand Finals as well as 15 England and five Great Britain caps.
Burrow spent his entire club career with Leeds and made more than 400 appearances between 2001 and 2017.
He was diagnosed with MND in 2019.
Since then, Burrow and Sinfield tirelessly worked to raise both awareness and funds for MND charities, before Burrow's death in June at the age of 41.
What does the challenge involve?
The Running Home for Christmas challenge will see Sinfield and the team covering more than 50km (31miles) per day, visiting seven regions across Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Each day will be broken down into 7km (4.3 mile) blocks. The number seven has been central to Sinfield’s challenge in recognition of Burrow, who wore the number during his career.
The team will aim to complete each 7km within one hour before the next block must start on the hour, meaning the only rest the team will get between each leg is the spare time after they have completed the block.
After the Northampton to Leicester leg, Sinfield will complete the challenge with the final leg from Old Trafford to Saddleworth in Greater Manchester.
Which charities is Sinfield fundraising for?
Kevin Sinfield and his team are raising money for six charities: Motor Neurone Disease Association, Leeds Hospitals Charity, Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, MND Scotland and The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
How much has Sinfield raised so far?
Sinfield has already raised about £10m over the course of four previous annual challenges.
