A man who murdered his own grandmother has been jailed for life.

Sam Croston, 37, of no fixed address, killed Pamela Croston at a property in Everdon Road, Coventry, in September 2023.

Croston was convicted of murder on 24 February and was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday.

He will serve a minimum of 30 years.

West Midlands Police said they were called to Everdon Road after Ms Croston's emergency pendant had been activated.

They found Croston sitting on the ground near his grandmother, who was seriously injured.

She was taken to hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The force said Croston told officers he had no memory of the attack, but "it was clear Pamela's injuries were deliberate".

A spokesperson said the force's thoughts were with Ms Croston's family.
