A man has been jailed for 10 years for abducting and sexually abusing a teenage girl.

The offences committed by Kyeran Taylor, 39, from Keynsham in Somerset, culminated in him taking his victim to London in his lorry.

He admitted a range of sexual offences against a child, and was found guilty of two further counts of sexual activity with a child after a trial at Bristol Crown Court.

Taylor also pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving after causing a head-on crash in Chew Magna while under the influence of cocaine.

'Manipulative grooming'

A woman in her 60s suffered serious injuries in the crash on the B3130.

Speaking after the sentencing on 27 September, Investigating officer Det Con Louise Pizey said: "Kyeran Taylor’s grooming, manipulative and sexual behaviour saw him committing a series of serious sexual offences.

"He’s damaged the victim’s childhood and caused a far-reaching ripple effect.

“I hope this case sends out a clear message – we will not stand for the sexual exploitation of children and will work hard to disrupt this abhorrent behaviour and bring offenders to justice."

Taylor was also handed a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) as well as a restraining order, after admitting to a range of offences committed between September 2021 and April 2022.

These include two counts of sexual assault, six counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of child abduction, and one count of sexual communication with a child.

Det Con Pizey added: "I want to thank everyone who assisted with this investigation, and I hope those affected by Taylor’s crimes feel some sense of relief now he’s been sentenced to a significant prison term."

She also encouraged victims of sexual offences to come forward.

"We’ll ensure you can access any support services you may need and crucially we will fully investigate and try to get you the justice you deserve," she added.
