A town's post office services are to be restored with the opening of a new branch - six months after they were lost following the resignation of a postmaster.

Aspatria, in Cumbria, saw its King Street branch close in December.

Now the Post Office has announced services will restart on 3 June from a building currently operating as a Spar shop on Queen Street.

It said the branch would be open daily, providing an extra 30 hours of service per week compared to the former part-time offering.

The premises will be renamed Queen Street Post Office.

A mobile service visiting nearby Westnewton, Plumbland, Blennerhasset and Prospect will continue to operate in the meantime.
