Rare vintage photobooth returns to Devon town
A Devon artist is hoping to use a black and white photobooth to create a large scale photo-archive of a town in the south of the county.
Kate Tyler's work using photobooths has previously been displayed in London's National Portrait Gallery.
She has invited all residents of Ashburton, in south Devon, to have their photo taken.
Ms Tyler said: "It's an exciting project that embraces nostalgia and offers an authentic alternative to digital selfie culture."
Once all the photos have been collected, they will be compiled into a collective art piece.
The photobooth will be based at the Ashburton Arts Centre until the end of October.
Ms Tyler said: "I’m looking forward to hearing older residents reminisce about when they last used a machine like this, and seeing younger residents experience the joy of analogue."
The project is being funded by Teignbridge District Council and the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
