'Cuppa with a copper' invite made to residents
PA MediaResidents are being invited to enjoy a "cuppa with a copper" in a new monthly drop-in event.
The initiative, set up by police and the council in Darlington, County Durham, aims to encourage members of the public to voice their opinions, raise concerns or discuss issues.
Representatives from the council's anti-social behaviour team will also attend the events at Esquires Coffee in the Cornmill Centre.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday afternoon, with sessions held monthly thereafter.
Insp Matt Plumb, from Darlington neighbourhood policing team, said: "We are committed to making Darlington safer for businesses, visitors and our residents and one of the ways to do that is by listening to their concerns.
"Events like these allow us to reach those who aren't often in contact with the police but want to speak to us and share ideas."
Zoe France, centre manager of the Cornmill Centre, said: "It is a great opportunity, not just to contribute to improving our fantastic town centre, but also just to come for a chat and a coffee with others who are passionate about Darlington."
