A 78-year-old woman has died three days after her car was involved in a crash with a lorry on the A98 in Moray.

The woman was driving a red Nissan Micra when it was in collision with the HGV near Buckie at about 12:25 on Tuesday.

She was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment, but later died.

The 58-year-old male lorry driver was uninjured. He has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

The A98 was closed for about 12 hours to allow crash scene investigators to carry out inquiries.

Sgt Lesley Morrison said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and they have asked for privacy at this sad time.

"Inquiries remain ongoing as we work to establish how this collision happened.

"Anyone with information or dashcam footage should get in contact, no matter how insignificant it may seem."
