'Raw sewage floods our home when it rains'

A family said their home had been flooded by raw sewage nine times in two years after heavy rain.

Sara Comins, from Wragby, who has three children with complex medical needs, said "it's filthy, absolutely filthy".

The sewage previously got inside the boiler, meaning the family had intermittent heating and hot water.

Anglian Water, which is responsible for the sewage network, have apologised and said they were in touch with Mrs Comins to solve the issues.

Ms Comins said the floods leave a film of sewage, tissue and mud along her driveway.

One of Mrs Comins' sons, Samuel, has a brain condition and suppressed immune system, his bedroom and bathroom have been affected by the sewage.

"It's hard enough having to cope with some of the things my children have to cope with on a daily basis, with their condition and their symptoms," she said.

"I just think it's really unfair," she added.

Mrs Comins said the flooding first happened more than two years ago, but described it as "getting worse."

"The last three or four times have been absolutely awful".

'Absolutely stinks'

Barry Garbutt lives two doors down from the Comins family and said he had experienced similar flooding though not as regularly.

The latest incident in October left 3in (7.5cm) of liquid "that was sewage, not water" on his driveway.

"All of a sudden you hear the toilet inside starting bubbling. Then you get the smell. It just absolutely stinks. It's not nice".

A spokesperson for Anglian Water said: “We’re really sorry to hear about the issues this resident is facing in Wragby. Our local teams are aware of this issue and have been in touch with the customer to let her know that we’re investigating the issue to help identify the problem.”
