Nottingham set to receive £3m Broad Marsh grant

Nottingham is set to receive more than £3m to push forward the regeneration of the Broad Marsh area.

The cash, which will fund demolition work on the former frame of the former shopping centre, is due to be provided by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA).

Nottingham City Council said the £3.3m grant would allow it to proceed with redeveloping the area around the newly-created Green Heart site.

The EMCCA said the funding is due to be discussed and approved at a board meeting in Mansfield on Monday.

Nottingham City Council leader Neghat Khan said: "This is key funding that the city has bid for to accelerate our ambitious plans for Broad Marsh.

"If we secure the grant at EMCCA's board meeting next week, this will be a great example of partnership working between the new regional mayor and Nottingham City Council."

Regional mayor Claire Ward said: "Broad Marsh is one of the region's biggest development opportunities and this funding will help towards delivering the masterplan for the site.

"It will go towards the demolition of part of the frame near to the Green Heart and will be an important step in helping to bring forward work on the site."
