Firefighters' dedication honoured at awards night

Firefighters from across a county were honoured for their "professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication" at an annual awards ceremony.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) celebrated firefighters and support staff for their commitment to public safety.

Chief fire officer Nikki Watson, and the county's police, fire and crime commissioner (PFCC), Danielle Stone, presented the commendations.

Ms Watson said Friday's event was a "fantastic opportunity" to acknowledge the "vital work" NFRS does.

Firefighters and fire service staff who have notched up more than 20 years service were given long service and good conduct awards.

Nicky Evans, who works in the control room fielding 999 calls, was recognised for 40 years of service.

Oundle fire station won the on-call award, while Corby white watch got the community award.

The PFCC said: “I continue to be amazed by the efforts of our firefighters and fire staff.

"It was a privilege to be able to attend the awards ceremony and celebrate their achievements."
