Murder arrest after woman dies in seaside town

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 40s died at a seaside property.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance attended the scene in Skelmersdale Road, Clacton-on-Sea, at 11:30 GMT on Friday.

The man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital in a "serious condition", Essex Police said.

The force added its inquiries were ongoing and officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the woman's death.

Det Ch Insp Rob Huddleston said: "Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who sadly died today.

"We know how concerning this incident will be to the local community and I can assure you that we are working diligently to understand exactly what happened."

The senior officer said both police and paramedics worked to save the woman's life.
