Plans to build on pub garden and car park pulled

Plans to build on a car park and pub beer garden described as the "heart of the community" have been pulled.

More than 100 people objected to proposals to build two new homes next to The Cambridgeshire Hunter in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Charles Wells Limited, the brewery that owns the pub, was contacted by the BBC for a response.

The company previously said in planning documents that the pub's existing space was "over provision" and that reconfiguring it would not have an impact on the business.

Concerns were raised that the development would have an impact on the pub's business, which some people said was "thriving" since new tenants had taken over.

In the objections, people stressed the importance of the existing pub car park and beer garden, with one person saying they were "key for charity events and family fun days" and another describing them as the "heart of the community".

Under the plans, the number of car parking spaces for the pub would have been reduced from 24 to 12.

In planning documents, Charles Wells Limited said the proposals would have "no impact" on the pub's business, and would improve the local housing market.
