No trains will run on the line for ten days due to planned engineering works

Merseyrail passengers are being warned they face disruption next month as a line closes for planned engineering works.

Trains will not run between Formby and Southport from 5 October to 14 October, while Network Rail carry out track renewal works including upgrading signalling systems.

A rail replacement bus service will operate between Southport and Formby, calling at all stations and trains will be running between Formby and Liverpool Central.

Passengers are advised to expect longer journey times and to check information on the Merseyrail website before they travel.

A normal timetable will be in operation from the start of service on 15 October, Merseyrail said.

The works come just weeks after the line was closed for Network Rail to construct a new concrete crossing over the River Alt.
