Lorry failed to stop after hitting pedestrian

A pedestrian is in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by a lorry which then failed to stop on an Edinburgh road.
The 55-year-old was knocked down by a Volvo lorry on the A701, Craigmillar Park, near the junction with Lygon Road at about 18:15 on Sunday.
The HGV did not stop at the scene but was later traced along with the 37-year-old male driver.
The man is being treated in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Police are appealing for witnesses.
The A701 was closed while crash investigations were carried out and reopened at about 22:15 on Sunday.
PC Mhairi Deuchar, of Police Scotland, said: "I'm appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about what happened, to contact us.
"I'd also ask drivers with dashcams who were in the area at the time to please review your footage and bring anything you think may be significant to our attention."
