Tributes to 'most dignified' man who died in crash

The family of a man who died in a crash said he was the "most dignified man" they had ever met in a tribute to him.

Jeffrey Holmes, who was in his 60s, died following a crash on the A47 in Hockering, Norfolk, on 28 December.

His family in a joint statement said he was driving to a family birthday party for one of his grandchildren, "all of whom he doted on completely".

They added that he had worked in further education in west Norfolk and beyond and would be "fondly remembered by all who encountered him".

"Despite many years in education, his great passion was building houses around himself and those he loved," the family tribute added.

"He might have been awful at guessing how long a job would take, he would often fuss over tiny details that nobody else would ever notice, and he was a perfectionist almost to a fault - but he loved learning new skills and trying out things for himself, and he made beautiful homes, no matter how long it took.

"At the end of the day, Jeff touched countless lives and helped so many people. He was kind, caring, and the most dignified man we have ever met."

The crash happened at 14:28 GMT last month when a silver BMW 4 Series and a silver Skoda Yeti, driven by Mr Holmes, crashed.

Mr Holmes died at the scene while the driver of the BMW was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was discharged.

A third vehicle, a blue Honda Civic, collided with the verge.

Officers have appealed for witnesses and information.
