Motorists are facing disruption following the closure of a western section of the Isle of Man's TT course for drainage works ahead of the 2025 races.

The A3 has been closed on a 24-hour basis on Monday from Ballig Bridge to Cronk y Voddy for up to a fortnight.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said the works would see the construction of an improved surface water drainage system and carriageway resurfacing.

A spokesman said the project had "been identified as essential" to allow the TT and Manx Grand Prix events to run in 2025.

Diversions will be in place via the Peel to Kirk Michael Coast Road at the Poortown Road and Douglas Road Corner junctions on the A2 throughout the works.

The DOI said the works, on the lower section of Creg Willey's Hill, were at the request from TT organisers ACU Events Ltd, with the support of the Department for Enterprise.

The route has been be closed to all traffic throughout the period, but access to residential properties has been maintained.

The Isle of Man TT races are scheduled to take place between 26 May and 7 June, and the Manx Grand Prix festival is schedule to run from 17 to 25 August.
