Norfolk Police says three men reportedly chased people through Broad Row alleyway on Monday

A man has been charged after reports of people being chased through a town by someone armed with a knife.

Norfolk Police said officers were called to Broad Row alleyway in Great Yarmouth at about 12:40 BST on Monday.

A 19-year-old from Dereham was charged with affray and threatening a person with a knife.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Norwich Crown Court on 13 May.

Great Yarmouth's independent MP Rupert Lowe described it as a "horrific incident" and thanked officers for their response.

In a post on Facebook, he said: "I have been in contact with the police and am pushing for the firmest possible action."

Police said a second man arrested, in his 20s, had been released on conditional bail while the investigation continued.
