Families start arriving at a rainy Camp Bestival

Festival co-founder Rob Da Bank tells us what's in store this weekend at Camp Bestival.

Revellers have been arriving at a rainy Camp Bestival in Shropshire as the four-day event kicks off.

Faithless, Paloma Faith, McFly and Rick Astley will be headlining this year at Weston Park.

Festival curator Rob Da Bank said the event had been "bedding in" since setting up at the venue three years ago, but its "USP" was how many different things families could see and take part in.

Visitors can enjoy parkour and free-running, football, synchronised swimming and wall-climbing as well as live acts.

The festival has been running at its sister site at Lulworth Estate in Dorset since 2008.

Da Bank said they wanted to cater for families featuring a range of ages.

"Maybe it's their first experience of sleeping under canvas with with their family with their children," he said.

"It might be their first ever festival for a lot of people, [it] is because we know from the people getting in touch with us.

"You're nervous [and] enquiries [are] about... what do we do, what do we bring, so that's where you start and and then you go from there, while some people are festival veterans."

Other performers on the line-up include Orbital, The Darkness and Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears, Level 42, Sarah Cox and Gok Wan.

For younger festivalgoers TV favourites Mr Tumble and Mister Maker are among a string of children's stars set to appear and entertain.
