Council appeals for new homes site suggestions

A council in Derbyshire has appealed for people to suggest pockets of land where new houses could be built.

Erewash Borough Council (EBC) said a government-appointed planning inspector had raised concerns that insufficient land existed to meet the authority's housing targets for the coming years.

The council's housing strategy has set a target of 5,700 new homes across the borough between 2022 and 2037.

To address the inspector's concerns, the authority has asked site promoters and planning agents to submit details of land that may be suitable for development.

The Call for Sites exercise is due to run until 23 October.
