Flood warning issued as high spring tides continue

Residents and businesses in an area of Felixstowe have been told to expect flooding

A flood warning has been issued for an area of Suffolk hit by high spring tides.

The flood warning from the Environment Agency is for Bawdsey Quay and Felixstowe Ferry in Felixstowe, between 13:00 and 17:00 BST.

The Environment Agency said high spring tides "peaked astronomically" on Saturday and would continue through to Tuesday.

"Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides," it added on its website.

"Areas most at risk are Bawdsey Quay and in front of the flood defences at Felixstowe Ferry hamlet.

"Stay safe, and be prepared with a flood kit of essential items, should you need to evacuate your home."

Residents and businesses in the area have been warned to expect flooding.

Environment Agency workers are expected to be out operating flood barriers.
