A man has been arrested after shop staff reported being threatened with a machete during an armed robbery.

Officers were called to a store in Manor Road, Scunthorpe, at about 19:50 GMT on Tuesday.

The man reportedly demanded cash from the till before riding away on a bicycle.

Humberside Police said a 24-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of robbery on Thursday. He was also being questioned in connection with an alleged robbery in Priory Lane that day.

Det Insp Charmian Bakersmith said what was "thought to be a machete" had been recovered on Thursday. The man remained in custody.

The force is appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch.
