Father's anger over stab threat school action

A father has said the actions taken after a boy threatened to stab and rape his daughter are "not good enough".

Both children were attending primary-to-secondary school transition days at Bluecoat Aspley Academy, in Nottingham, in July.

A report stated the boy talked about attacking her with a knife, keeping her body in a bag and sexually assaulting her, and also threatened to “shank her nan”.

The school has told the father the pair would be kept apart in lessons and breaks, but her father, who asked to be anonymous, said the boy should be excluded.

An incident report from the school stated the boy initially told the girl he had a crush on her, but she turned him down.

He then told friends he would bring a knife to school and stab her “if she carries on doing this to me”.

The girl was then told of these threats.

Her father said she was “very upset” when he picked her up from the school.

He said: "When she told me what was wrong, I was really shocked.

"I asked her if she wanted to go to a different school, but she said she would not be bullied out."

He spoke to the school, but then said he had to ask repeatedly to find out what action was being taken.

"The school said because it involved younger children, it was less of a problem, but for me, if a child uses that sort of language, they are no longer a child," he said.

"Teachers said that because they had been put in different parts of the year group, they would not have lessons or breaks together.

"But what about before and after school? They are certainly going to see each other, and what then?

"How do we know he is not going to take some sort of revenge? I will be left wondering what has happened to her until the moment she gets home.

"He should be excluded. I know this school has excluded a pupil for making threats before, so why not now?"

He said police had initially said they would interview his daughter but then told him they would be taking no action.

Both the school and Nottinghamshire Police have declined to comment.
