Family market hub offering help and advice opens
A drop-in family hub has opened in Barnsley Market aimed at giving families a convenient location to gain support.
People can access a range of services including help with childcare, stop smoking services and learn about local events and activities.
It also offers families the opportunity to talk to staff about other services they can access at the borough's larger family hubs.
Councillor Trevor Cave, Barnsley Council's cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, said: "The new location is a great way to engage with more families about the support available to them.
"It also links into the work we’ve been doing to bring more health and wellbeing services into our town centre."
NHS Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley has joined the initiative, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said, offering support for those looking to stop smoking.
Six other family hubs are available at various locations around the borough.
