The average house price is now just over £604,000

Rents and house prices in Guernsey dropped slightly at the end of 2024, according to new figures from the States.

The average rent dropped to £2,037 a month, but people renting are still paying 50% more than five years ago, according to the figures.

The average one bedroom flat costs about £1,500 a month, compared to about £1,000 five years ago and about £950 a decade ago.

The average house price is now just over £604,000 -1% less than the same time last year, the States said.

More houses were sold during the last quarter of 2024 than in the same period of 2023. However the average time to complete purchases had risen, the States said.

The final sale price was an average of 7.4% lower than the price the house was advertised at, it added.
