A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a man died during a disturbance in Renfrewshire.

Emergency services were called to the Foxbar area of Paisley at about 16:15 on Saturday, with reports on social media of a confrontation and fireworks let off.

Police said a 21-year-old man was found seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19-year-old was arrested for alleged assault.

Officers said the death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will be held. The dead man's next of kin have been informed.

Det Insp Euan McMillan said: "Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, however there is no threat to the wider public.

"Officers will remain in the area as enquiries are carried out and anyone with any concerns, can approach them."
